Figure Drawing Workshop
Learning to draw from life is a skill that will allow you to express and describe what you see in nature in a sensitive and fluent way.
Within the language of drawing there are many tools that help express both the form and feeling of a pose.
Using the help of the comparative measurement method, we will study gesture and proportion with a focus on edge quality.
The skills which you will learn in this workshop can be applied to working with oil paint and other mediums.
The aim of this workshop is to bring one life model drawing to completion in vine charcoal.
In this 5 day intensive workshop you will have approximately 30 hours in total drawing directly from the life model.
With the help of class demos and personalized critiques you will understand the step by step process of how to draw the human form from life.

Classical Life Drawing at Segotia
Train the eye to be selective and concise in capturing the pose
Gain confidence in drawing from life through charcoal.
Using a series of short poses, hone in on proportion and gesture, looking for dynamic ways to securely find the essence of the subject’s pose.
These classical methods encourage a deeper understanding of how to capture the pose – emphasising gesture, and looking for the larger forms, ignoring small details, and training the eye to be selective and concise.
